Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I preach or present the Gospel?

    No. Platform Guests open the door, and trained Teammates share the Gospel afterward. Closers use "change

    language," like a halftime adjustment or finding a new coach, and don't mention God or Jesus from the platform.

  • Do I need to be famous?

    No. Well-known names help draw people who wouldn't otherwise come, but the ministry also looks for local talent and ex-offenders with stories of transformation.

  • What kinds of talents fit?

    Athletes, singers, bands, magicians, comedians, dancers, beatboxers, strongmen, ball handlers and motivational speakers have all served.

  • Can musicians play Christian music?

    No. Singers and bands are expected to play popular, secular and nostalgic songs.

  • How long will I be on stage?

    Plan for 15–20 minutes, but stay flexible, because you might get only 5. The Playbook suggests building 3-minute stories you can link together depending on the time available.

  • How many times will I perform in a day?

    It varies. You'll get your program assignments at the Platform Guest Meeting the night before. On most events, Platform Guests are expected to perfom twice but it can sometime be as many as 6 times.

  • What's the time commitment?

    Some facilities will require additional security forms while other do not. Many of the forms can be filled out online while others require you to download and complete by hand. Check the Important Information section for the event for a link and instructions. You will also receive an email with access to the form.

  • Will I be trained?

    Yes. You'll get Equip & Ignite, the PG meeting, the Playbook (Compliment, Compartmentalize, Cast, Connect, Close, Critique), a Dos & Don'ts list, and a chance to role-play with feedback.

  • Will I be paid?

    Yes. You receive an honorarium check, mailed within two weeks of the event, and reimbursement for approved

    expenses.

  • Who covers travel?

    The home office books airfare and hotels. Meals are reimbursed at $10 for breakfast, $10 for lunch and $20 for dinner. Mileage is reimbursed at the ministry rate, capped at the cost of the cheapest coach airfare.

  • What equipment do I bring?

    The ministry provides the main audio system. You bring your own cables and adapters, and any instruments or props. You can also send music ahead to load on ministry MP3 players.

  • How are guests booked?

    A Regional Director contacts you with a date, time and place. After that you get a contract, travel arrangements and a confirmation email, and you send in your bio, photo and equipment list.

  • How are Platform Guests chosen for each event?

    It depends on the facility's population and requests, relevance to that audience, your availability and location, and the budget.

  • Do I have to volunteer at an event first?

    Volunteering first is preferred but not mandatory.
